The "Frost Dragon" Standard
In high-tier Adopt Me trading, values are often measured in Frost Dragons rather than numbers. For example, a Shadow Dragon might be worth "2.8 Frosts." This means to get a Shadow Dragon, you would need to offer 2 Frost Dragons plus significant adds (worth 0.8 of a Frost). Understanding this relative currency is crucial for breaking into the elite trading tier.
Profit Strategy: The Neon Maker
One of the most reliable ways to grow wealth without relying on luck is Neon Making. Four Full-Grown pets combined into a Neon are generally worth more than four individual Newborns of the same type. By trading for four bad-aged pets, spending the weekend grinding them to Full Grown, and making a Neon, you essentially "create" value out of time. This is especially profitable with new Legendary pets from the latest egg.
Investing: The Egg Strategy
Every egg in the Gumball Machine (like the current event egg) will eventually leave the game. Once it does, its supply is capped forever. Buying 20-50 of these eggs and holding them for 6-12 months is a guaranteed way to multiply your inventory value. Players will always pay a premium for the chance to hatch a retired legendary.
Avoiding "Hype" Deflation
When a new pet is released (e.g., during a Halloween or Christmas event), its value is highest in the first hour. Do not trade your stable high-tiers for a new pet on day one. The value of new pets almost always crashes by 50-70% within two weeks as more players obtain them. The smart move is to sell new pets immediately if you get them, and buy them back later when they are cheap.
The "Preppy" Factor
Adopt Me has a unique "Preppy" economy where cute pets (Cows, Strawberry Bat Dragons, Poodles) trade for massive overpays compared to "ugly" pets of the same rarity (like Minions or Metal Oxen). When building your inventory, prioritize pets with good aesthetics/demand over raw rarity. A Mega Neon Cow is far easier to trade than a Mega Neon Metal Ox, even though both are Legendaries.
